What are the most significant programs written in Scrapscript?

Hey all, I’m Thassilo and I’m really excited about Scrapscript. I stumbled across the spec a few months ago, but I was confused because the website was mostly empty. Reading Max Bernstein’s post on Scrapscript last week sparked my interest again.

In his post, Max mentions the Programming Language Checklist

Under the heading “The following philosophical objections apply”, it reads:

The most significant program written in your language is its own compiler
The most significant program written in your language isn’t even its own compiler

So, my question is: what are the most significant programs written in Scrapscript? I’m not here to denounce any of the progress made on Scrapscript! Rather, I’m eager to contribute, and I’m curious where the project is at right now.

Thassilo

@cgreg has some semi-public stuff in GitHub - gregorybchris/scraps: Scrapscript Scraps but they rely on some extensions/platform features that aren’t implemented yet. But you add a randint function, for example, they work.

Great question!

The short answer is: we’re still very, very early in development

I’m hoping that my first set of significant programs will be some data science and media manipulation tools. I’m currently aiming for Q3 2024.
